The Cisco MDS 9124 is well suited for Small to Medium Businesses that want to deploy cost-effective but scalable, high-performance SANs. Ideal for branch offices and departments in large enterprises, it can be used as the foundation of SAN standalone SANs or as an edge switch in larger core-edge SAN infrastructures. This switch meets the low cost, high performance, ease of management and security requirements of small to medium-scale storage environments.

Intelligent storage networking services - The Cisco MDS 9124, powered by Cisco MDS 9000 SAN-OS Software, offers intelligent storage networking capabilities such as virtual SANs (VSANs), PortChannels, quality of service (QoS), and security for cost-effective design, deployment, and management of departmental and enterprise SANs. Inter VSAN Routing (IVR) is not supported.
