Based on the DLTtape platform and revolutionary magnetic tape technology, the SDLT 320 Tape Drive system offers 160GB of storage and a sustained data transfer rate of 16MB/sec in native mode, setting new capacity and throughput standards. This breakthrough was accomplished through many Quantum-developed technical innovations including Laser Guided Magnetic Recording, Pivoting Optical Servo, Magneto-Resistive Cluster heads, a high-efficiency Partial Response Maximum Likelihood channel, and an Advanced Metal Particle media. These advances guarantee DLTtape technology will be the industry-standard platform for long-term scalability in midrange and enterprise storage of the future.
This internal tape drive model features an Ultra SCSI LVD (Low Voltage Differential) interface for burst transfer rates up to 80MB/sec (SCSI Bus). The cartridge loads in 12 seconds, for formatted tapes, and 40 seconds unformatted, and the average file access time is 70 seconds. Tape format specifications include a 448 track serial serpentine recording format, 133kbits per inch recording density, and a track density of 193K-bits per inch.
Extremely reliable, the Super DLTtape system features a 30-year archive storage life, 1,000,000 pass media durability, and a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 250,000 hours at 100% duty cycle.
