Power Over Ethernet Active Splitter
The PowerDsine Universal PoESplitter is especially designed to operate in conjunction with 802.3af Power Midspans and Ethernet Switches with Cisco Inline Power detection. The PDPS800 includes a standard IEEE802.3af compliant front-end detection circuit.
The splitter works in conjunction with 802.3 Ethernet Switches, including Cisco Catalyst switches, without requiring PoE midspan or hub devices. The PDPS800 is a power-enabling device of 48V dc input voltage originate from the Power Supply Equipment side. The splitter is designed to enable end terminals getting 48V dc. It is capable of receiving input power over data wires or spare wires. In order for the splitter to work, the switch must have Power over Ethernet enabled. The splitter does not generate power by itself.
